On December 20, in order to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Central Conference on Talent Work, and actively implement the strategy of strengthening the university with talents in the new era, , the first Young Doctoral and Postdoctoral Forum of the School of Marxism, co-hosted by the Personnel Office and the School of Marxism of Nankai University, opened. Attendees included members of the School’s Party and administrative leadership, responsible comrades of the Postdoctoral Management Office of the Personnel Office, young academic leaders of the School, and representatives of outstanding young scholars. The forum was presided over by Vice Dean Lan Hao.
The forum invited more than 20 outstanding doctoral and postdoctoral from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Wuhan University, and Jilin University. It aimed to gather outstanding young talents at home and abroad, jointly discuss frontier disciplinary issues, and establish a platform for academic exchange and development for young talents.
Fu Hong, the Secretary of Party Committee of the School of Marxism, delivered the opening speech, extending a warmly welcome to the young scholars present. She emphasized that implementing the strategy of strengthening the university with talents in the new era is an important direction for the development of Nankai University. As one of the first universities in China to establish a School of Marxism, Nankai University has always been committed to cultivating outstanding talent with deep patriotic feelings and excellent academic abilities. The holding of this forum is precisely to gather talents from all over the world and inject new vitality into the development of the School of Marxism at Nankai University. She mentioned General Secretary Xi Jinping’s visit to Nankai on January 17, 2019, during which he highlighted that “patriotism is the soul of the Chinese nation.” Nankai University has a glorious tradition of patriotism, which is the soul of Nankai. The School of Marxism will continue to uphold the school motto of “Permitting Public Spirit and Practical Ability, and Striving for Daily Progress”, actively explore the path of running education on Chinese soil, and cultivate more outstanding talents with a sense of patriotism and genuine learning. Finally, Secretary Fu Hong hopes that all young scholars can make full use of this platform to showcase their talents and achievements.
Niu Keqin, Director of the Postdoctoral Management Office, introduced the university’s recruitment and training policies, including postdoctoral hiring plans, current team status, and benefits. He said that the university actively responded to the guidance of the Party Central Committee,committed to improving the level of postdoctoral training, and build a postdoctoral talent brand with Nankai University characteristics.
Lan Hao, Vice Dean of the School of Marxism, delivered a special report. Heanalyzed and expounded on the promotion conditions and development paths for various talent positions in combination with the national recruitment situation of ideological and political theory teachers. He stressed the community of shared destiny between the School and young talents. The School formulates individualized training plans for different types of talents to assist the growth and success of of young faculties.
During the research experience-sharing session, Zhu Xuewei, a young academic leader of the School, shared her self-improvement and training experiences in theoretical thinking ability,, paper collaboration ability, and project application ability based on her personal research experiences, demonstrating the School’s academic strength and broad-mindedness.
In the afternoon, the forum entered the academic presentation stage. Under the guidance of Professor Yu Yifan, the Executive Dean of the School, Professor Xiao Guangwen, the Vice Secretary of Party Committee of the School, and Professor Liu Mingming and Ren Ling, young academic leaders, 27 doctoral and postdoctoral students conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges in three groups: Basic Principles of Marxism and Political Economy, Sinicization of Marxism, and Ideological and Political Education.
It is reported that this forum not only a concrete practice of the School’s in-depth implementation of the strategy of strengthening the university with talents, but also an important measures to implement the rectification of the current round of internal university inspections and strengthen the selection and cultivation of young talents team.
By hosting this forum, The School has further broadened the channels for talent introduction, provided a platform for young scholars to showcase their talents and exchange ideas, and laid a solid foundation for promoting research of Marxist theory and the reserve of ideological and political course teaching staff.
