On January 9, 2025, Ministry of Education’s Major Research Project of the Special Program for Ideological and Political Theory Course Teachers, Research on the Implementation Effectiveness of the Special Plan for Cultivating Reserve Talents of Ideological and Political Theory Course Teachers in Colleges and Universities and the Innovation Strategy of Talent Training Model, with Professor Yu Yifan, the Executive Dean of the School of Marxism of Nankai University as the person in charge, held a project promotion meeting.. Distinguished experts invited to review the project included: Professor Xiao Guiqing, a Chief Expert of the Central Marxist Theoretical Research and Construction Project, a vice chairperson of the Teaching Steering Committee for Marxist Theory Majors in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education, Vice Dean of the Institute of History and Building of the CPC and a professor of the School of Marxism of Tsinghua University; Professor Li Ran, a member of the Steering Committee for the Integration of Ideological and Political Courses in Primary, Secondary and Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and the deputy head of the Expert Steering Group, and the Dean of the School of Marxism of Fudan University; Professor Liu Shuijing, an expert of the Central Marxist Theoretical Research and Construction Project and the Dean of the School of Marxism of Wuhan University; Professor Yang Renzhong, an expert of the Central Marxist Theoretical Research and Construction Project and the Executive Dean of the Institute of Marxism in the New Era of Tianjin Normal University; Professor Sun Lanying, recipient of the Council Special Allowance of the State Councial and a professor at the School of Marxism of Tianjin University; and Professor Kou Qingjie, a Chief Expert of the Central Marxist Theoretical Research and Construction Project and a professor at the School of Marxism of Nankai University. Professors Wang Xinsheng, Wu Dongsheng, and Fu Hong from the School of Marxism of Nankai University, and Professor Dong Shubin from Jilin University, who are the persons in charge of the sub-projects, attended the meeting. Meng Delong, Deputy Director of Social Science Department of Nankai University, presided over the meeting, and Fu Hong, the Secretary of the Party Committeeof the School of Marxism of Nankai University, delivered the opening speech. The meeting was held in a combination of online and offline methods.

Professor Yu Yifan presented a comprehensive report covering nine aspects of the project, including the research background andsignificance, research status, basic ideas, research content, research methodology, innovative points and challenges, research plan, current progress, and expected results. He highlighted that since the implementation of the Special Support of Cultivation Reserve Talents for the Teaching Team of Ideological and Political Theory Course in Colleges and Universities in 2018, a larget number of outstanding young ideological and political course teachers have been trained and delivered to the society, filling the gap of ideological and political couse teachers in colleges and universities to a certain extent.p. At present, the plan has been implemented for six years, and it is an opportune time to evaluate the implementation effect of the plan, summarize experiences and lessons, and propose optimization strategies for cultivating reserve talents for the teaching team of ideological and political courses. The research team will investigate the original intention of implementing the special plan through five sub-projects , establish an index system for evaluating the effectiveness of talent cultivation. On this basis, it will, conduct research and evaluation on each training unit and select typical universities for in-depth analysis. Finally, it will put forward decision-making consultation opinions on innovating the cultivation model of ideological and political theory course teachers.
The expert review session was chaired by Professor Xiao Guiqing. The expert group highly affirmed the the problem-oriented awareness and academic value of the project. They believed that the framework design of this project was clear, the research perspective was comprehensive, and it had great policy leverage, which could provide sustained theoretical support for the policy incubation of the construction of the teaching team of ideological and political course teachers in the future. The expert group recommended focusing on the key and difficult issues of the research, trying to give a clear definition of “reserve talents” for ideological and political course teachers, , striving to build a real and reliable dynamic databases, conducting the real-time monitoring and continuous tracking of the training processes and outcomes, analyzing the short-board problems of the teaching team of ideological and political course teachers, identifying t the direction of talent cultivation, and shifting the focus of cultivating ideological and political course teachers from making up the “quantity” to improving the “quality”. In terms of empirical research, typical objects should be selected scientifically, appropriate methods should be adopted to obtain effective information, and the research should be done in detail and solidly. With a high political stance ,continuous and effective suggestions should be provided for cultivation reserve talents for ideological and political course teachers and building the teaching team..
In response, Professor Yu Yifan expressed sincere gratitude to the experts group for their suggestions, pointing out that he would further expand his thinking, improve the project’s implementation plan, and consolidate the research foundational to contribute to enhancing the quality of talent cultivation for ideological and political course teachers. Meng Delong summarized the meeting, saying that this project was highly targeted, realistic, tast-oriented and institutional. . He assured full support from Nankai University’s Social Science Department to the implementation of the project. He hoped that the research team would conduct thorough research and in-depth studies, strive to complete the research tasks and to achieve the expected results.
