The 34th ‘Young Forum’ on Ideological and Political Theory Courses was Held in Nankai University.

On November 5, in order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, the 34th ‘Young Teacher Forum’ on Ideological and Political Theory Classes was held at the Balitai Campus of Nankai University, sponsored by the Advanced Innovation Center for Ideological and Political Theory Classes of  Beijing Universities and the School of Marxism of Renmin University of China, and hosted by the School of Marxism of Nankai University. Sun Zhiliang, full-time deputy secretary of the Education Working Committee of Tianjin Municipal Party Committee, Liang Qi, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Nankai University, Wang Yi, vice president of Renmin University of China, and Wang Xinsheng, former vice president of Nankai University and dean of the School of Marxism, were present at the opening ceremony of the forum.

Outstanding young teachers from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei delivered  thematic reports on the theme of “deeply integrating the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee is into the Civic and Political Theory Classes”. Teacher and student representatives from more than 20 universities and colleges in Tianjin participated in the forum, which was also broadcasted live through the Online Collective Lesson Preparation Platform for National Ideological and Political Theory Courses Teachers from Colleges and Universities.

In his speech, Sun Zhiliang introduced the innovative practices of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government in highlighting and implementing the construction of the ideological and political courses. He pointed out that in accordance with the strategic  deployment of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, colleges and universities should further strengthen educational and regional synergy, adhere to systematic planning, anchor the direction of development, and teachers should enhance their political consciousness, timely incorporate the achievements of the Party's innovative theories into the relevant courses, and strive to build  brands of ideological and political courses with vivid content, profound effectiveness and far-reaching influence, so as to promote the Party's innovative theories to effectively enter into the brain,  heart and the soul of students.

Liang Qi reviewed the new progress made by Nankai University in the reform and innovation of ideological  and political courses in the five years since General Secretary Xi Jinping inspected Nankai University, pointing out that in the new starting point and new journey, we should further stimulate the vitality of young teachers, focus on the goal of building a first-class university, cultivate first-class talents, produce first-class results, and contribute  Nankai's wisdom and strength to advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation by means of Chinese-style modernization.

In her speech, Wang Yi introduced the practical experience of the School of Marxism of Renmin University of China in the construction of ideological  and political courses in recent years. She emphasized the importance of relying on the Advanced Innovation Center for Ideological and Political Theory Classes of Beijing Universities and the Online Collective Lesson Preparation Platform for National Ideological and Political Theory Courses Teachers from Colleges and Universities to further optimize the sharing mechanism of information, literature and teaching resources for ideological  and political courses, to provide multi-level, all-encompassing and three-dimensional services for all teachers from  universities, middle and primary schools, and to explore the effective ways of advancing the high-quality development of ideological  and politicalCourses.

On behalf of the sponsors, Wang Yi presented the certificate of the organizer for ‘Young Teachers Forum’ to the School of Marxism of Nankai University. Attending leaders a awarded certificates of participation to the young teachers who participated in the forum.

During the forum report session, seven young teachers reported respectively on the teaching design of the organic integration of the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee into the ideological and political courses, covering such major theoretical and practical issues as the social pattern, reform and opening up, high-quality development, the whole-process people's democracy, and the change on a scale unseen in a century. In terms of teaching ideas, teachers focus on problem orientation and enhance the initiative and enthusiasm of students through the design of the problem chain , to achieve the effect thatsuccess is assured when conditions are ripeand the effect of enlightenment and moistening the heart; in terms of value guiding, teachers focus on teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, combining with the characteristics of different institutions,  better telling  China by means of the expressions young people like, and to guide the students to understand the great achievements of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era from various perspectives. In terms of practical education, teachers focus on teaching by personal example as well as verbal instruction, taking the concept of “great ideology and political courses” as a guide, and leading students to participate in a wide range of social practices, by which realizes the organic combination between the small classroom of ideology and political education  and the big classroom of society. Prof. Chai Sufang, National Model Teacher and Professor of School of Marxism, Hebei University, and Prof. Zhang Jian, winner of Tianjin May 1st Labour Medal and Professor of School of Marxism, Nankai University, commented on the above  seven reports in detail.

Wang Xinsheng said in his concluding remarks that the lectures of the young teachers covered a series of issues related to China's reform and opening up, with both theoretical depth and realistic temperature, showing their respective teaching style, and realizing the goal of cultivating morality and nurturing people of ideological  and political courses. He encouraged the young teachers to take this forum as an opportunity to make further efforts to improve their political quality and to be “seeders” with firm beliefs according to the requirements of “strong political convictions and deep love for country and people”, enhance their professional competence and to be “climbers” with reform and innovation according to the requirements of “new thinking and broad vision”, and enhance their moral qualities and be “climbers” with knowledge and practice in accordance with the requirements of “strict self-discipline and upright character ”.
