On September 12, the School of Marxism held the meeting of faculty and staff for 2024 fall semester and the Year of Teaching Quality,aiming to summarize the achievements of the first half of the year，deploy work plans for the second half of the year, and to drive the high-quality development of the school’s various undertakingswith the improvement of teaching quality as the main line. The meeting was chaired by Fu Hong, secretary of the Party Committee of the school.
Fu Hong delivered an opening speech on behalf of the leadership of the school. She reviewed the important awards in education and teaching and other outstanding achievements. She also expressed her sincere gratitude to all the faculty and staff for their long-term contributions to the development of the school.
Wang Xinsheng, former vice president of Nankai University and dean of the School of Marxism, stressed in his speech that the core content of education is teaching, and continuous improvement of teaching should be kept. The fall semester is the top priority of education and teaching work, and all the faculty and staff should work together to inject impetus into the development of both students and the school around the theme of teaching quality year.
Yu Yifan, executive deputy dean of the school, reported on the achievements in the reform and innovation of ideological and political courses, the construction of the curriculum system and the teaching staff, discipline construction and scientific research, and talent training in the previous academic year. He reviewed the overall work of the school in the first half of the year from the perspective of conscientiously implementing the school’s deployment, coordinately promoting the reform and innovation of ideological and political courses, focusing on fundamental tasks on the one hand, and building a high-quality curriculum system on the other hand. He pointed out that the school has made breakthrough progress in the construction of ideological and political courses, demonstrating the improvement of the school’s comprehensive strength. He deployed the key tasks for the second half of the year, and emphasized that the school will take the teaching quality year activities as an important task of this semester, comprehensively improve the teaching level and teaching quality of teachers, and promote the school’s education and teaching capabilities to a new level.
Other branch leaders of the school subsequently made arrangements on teachers’ ethics and scientific research integrity, ideological and political courses quality and the use of new textbooks, fire safety, and trade union activities.
As to the launching of the Year of Teaching Quality, deputy dean Sun Shoutao put forward requirements for the collective lesson preparation work, namely to build ideological and political coursesin accordance with the “Golden Course” standards, to enhance the attractiveness of the classroom, and to play a better role in various teaching supervision and inspection. The meeting invited two outstanding young teachers, Liu Yibo and Ma Mengfei, to demonstrate their collective lesson preparation.
The meeting also introduced new faculty who joined the school this year.
In the summary, executive deputy dean Yu Yifan said that the school will continue to optimize resource allocation and improve teaching ability. He hopes that all departments of the school can cooperate closely to jointly promote the development, all teachers and students should adhere to the implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the important instructions given by Xi Jinping on the construction of ideological and political courses, and contribute to the realization of high-quality development of the school.
