On the afternoon of September 12, the welcome meeting for all the new students of the School of Marxism was held in the lecture hall on the ground floor of the West Office Building of Nankai University's Jinnan Campus. Wang Xinsheng, former Vice President of Nankai University and the Dean of the School of Marxism, Fu Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, Yu Yifan, Executive Vice Dean of the College, and other members of the leadership team, as well as some representatives of the faculty, administrative cadres of the party and government, and all the new undergraduate and postgraduate students of the class of 2024 attended. The conference was presided over by Hu Yingxin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Dean of the College.
At the beginning of the meeting, Hu Yingxin warmly welcomed all the new students and introduced the leaders and teachers present at the meeting. In the solemn and loud national anthem, the welcome meeting was officially opened.
Professor Fu Hong firstly sent her warm congratulations and sincere welcome to all the new students of the class of 2024. Taking General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the National Education Conference as an entry point, she illuminated the special importance of Marxist colleges and Marxist education in our country's education, recalled the glorious history of College of Marxism, and introduced the construction of the college. At the time point of special significance this year, Professor Fu Hong put forward three hopes to the students: to study with faith, to research with pursuit, and to strive with mission. She wished all the new students to set sail and open up a promising new world.
Immediately after that, Professor Kou Qingjie, Director of the Department of Basic Theories of Marxism, Professor Xiao Guangwen, Deputy Director of the Department of Sinicization of Marxism, and Associate Professor Chang Yanhui, Assistant Director of the Department of Ideological and Political Education, introduced the basic situation of each department in terms of discipline construction, faculty strength, and talent training system.
Associate Professor Liu Yibo, a teacher representative, shared his insights on the pursuit of life with the students. Starting from the study of classical texts, the establishment of a sense of urgency, and participation in social practice, he pointed out that students should embrace the purpose of serving the people, strive for the great cause of communism, and be young people of the new era with strong beliefs and aspirations to achieve success.
The student representative, Yang Linye, a master degree student of the class of 2023, shared her harvest and feelings in the college with all the students, starting from the three aspects of firmness of the original heart, observance of righteousness and innovation, and devotion to practice, and focusing on the question of how to become a Marxist with faith in the heart and power at the feet. She also called all the students to contribute Nankai's new strength to the advancement of the Chinese-style modernization.
On behalf of the new students, Wei Xi, an undergraduate student of the class of 2024, expressed the excitement of entering the College ofMarxism and the joy of meeting students from all over the country. By looking back at the history of Nankai, she pointed out the mission and responsibility of the new students of the college. Using the ‘Three Questions of Patriotism’ as a guide, she issued a call to ‘maintain the original heart of Nankai and inherit the spirit of the College’, calling on the new students to strengthen their faith and write a new chapter of the College together.
After the speeches of the representatives, the conference held the appointment ceremony for the class advisors of the new undergraduate and graduate students. Leaders of the college awarded appointment certificates to the undergraduate class advisor Liu Yibo, postgraduate class advisors Zhang Qingwei, Yang Zhidi, Wu Shuli, and Wang Xingang, and took a group photo together.
The welcome meeting ended successfully with the school song of Nankai University. New students took the first group photo in the College of Marxism. Sincerely wish the 255 new students of the School of Marxism to live up to their new dreams and work hard to make a new chapter!
