Professor Wang Xinsheng of the School of Marxism won the Outstanding Achievement Award for Humanities and Social Sciences in Universities under the Ministry of Education

Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the winners list of the 9th Outstanding Achievement Award for Scientific Research (Humanities and Social Sciences) in Universities. “Research on Marx’s Political Philosophy” won the second prize, written by Professor Wang Xinsheng of the School of Marxism .

Established by the Ministry of Education, The Outstanding Achievement Award for Scientific Research (Humanities and Social Sciences) in Universities is the most credible and influential award in the field of humanities and social sciences in China, aiming to promote universities to accelerate the construction of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics, to build China’s independent knowledge system, and to make greater contributions to build a great modern socialist country and realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. This year’s selection is for the research results  published between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2021.

Marx’s Political Philosophy is not only the philosophical basis and theoretical essence of Marx’s political thought, but also the methodology of Marx’s investigation into political issues.This book explains the basic characteristics, core content, methodological features and contemporary value of Marx’s Political Philosophy.First,Marx is neither a utilitarian nor a general deontologist, and his political philosophy is based on historicist deontology. Second, Marx pointed out a political philosophy program to get out of the predicament of modernity by criticizing modernity, especially civil society. Third, Marx’s Theory of Justice is compatible with and surpasses the theory of justice of liberalism. Fourth, Marx’s Political Philosophy with the Theory of Justice as its core needs to be explored and constructed, and the development of the world, especially China’s social transformation, provides a realistic basis for the contemporary construction of this theory.
