In order to deeply learn and understand the thought of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristic for a New Era and the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, fully implement the important instructions given by General Secretary Xi Jinping on the construction of ideological and political theory courses, and push forward the high-quality development of the ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities, the Third Phase Theme Seminar of the year 2024 came to a successful conclusion in the research and advanced study base for teachers of ideological and political courses from national colleges and universities (Nankai University) on the morning of August 23. This seminar under the title of “Addition and Subtraction with Tianjian Style” was sponsored by the Department of Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education and organized by the School of Marxism, Nankai University
This seminar consisting of three-phase research and study has been highly valued and strongly supported by the Party Committee of Nankai University. Liang Qi and Niu Wenli, deputy secretaries of the Party Committee of the university, attended the opening ceremonies of the workshop and delivered speeches. On behalf of the Party Committee of Nankai University, the leaders of the university introduced the profound history of Nankai University and the work and achievements of the university in implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech during his visit to the university. In particular, they fully affirmed the achievements of the School of Marxism of Nankai University in the development of disciplines and the construction of ideological and political courses and made requirements for the high quality guarantee for the workshop's operation.
The School of Marxism of Nankai University has arranged expert counselling, collective study, case interviews, group inquiry and other component elements for research and study. In the theoretical training part, Professor Zhai Lei from Zhou Enlai School of Government and Management of Nankai University taught the participants case teaching methods and experience on the theme of Both take the overall situation and be down-to-earth - how to carry out case teaching and develop teaching cases’; Mao Zhenhua, the director of Tianjin Branch of Xinhua News Agency, systematically introduced the basic theories and relevant operation methods of news interviewing and writing around the theme of ‘Methods of News Writing’, so that the teachers can fully grasp the selection of cases and writing skills.
During the practical training classes, in order to reveal the ‘Give’ and ‘Get’ of Tianjin in promoting green development over the past ten years, and to deeply implement Xi Jinping's Thought on Ecological Civilization, the Marxism college organized the participant teachers to carry out thematic, task-oriented , and squatting research, and went to representative practical teaching sites in Tianjin for smart city construction, green ecological restoration, rural grass-roots governance, etc. to carry out on-site teaching. Participants entered the Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao Memorial Hall to learn and understand the outstanding quality and lofty spirit of the two revolutionaries; they gained an in-depth understanding the leading role of the Party building for promoting the comprehensive revitalization of the countryside and the grass-roots expression of the spirit of the fighting flood in the the Sixth Port Village in Xinkou Town, Xiqing District,; they deeply appreciated the ecological effects of the Green Screen of Jinnan - Green Ecological Barrier of Bali Bay” which has been ‘rich in water, lush in greenery, and has become forested and piecemeal’; they went to the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city to learn the development path of balancing the ‘high value’ of green water and mountains and the ‘high quality’ of economic development; they went to the ‘intelligent zero-carbon’ Tianjin Port Terminal and visited the automated, intelligent and unmanned ports integrating ‘5G + Beidou’ information technology, creating a ‘Tianjin Sample’ of leapfrog development of ports. they also made in-depth investigation into Guojiagou Village in Jizhou District, “China's Natural Oxygen Bar”, which is a model of promoting rural revitalisation with ecological resources, to appreciate the new practice of promoting the construction of a beautiful China under the guidance of Xi Jinping's Thought on Ecological Civilization.
In the group inquiry session, the workshop participants were divided into groups andinjected into the accumulation of rich and vivid teaching cases into the discussion of the preparation of the lesson session. Everygroup showed their results of the teaching design. Professor Yu Yifan of the College, in his summary of the evaluation of the participants' training results, expressed his hope that ideological and political courses teachers will take this training as an opportunity to study and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee in-depth, to promote the connotative development of ideological and political courses by abiding by the principle of fundamental principles and breaking new ground and to improve their ideological and political teaching ability and to enhance the Effectiveness of their teaching.
In addition, in accordance with the relevant requirements of the Department of Social Sciences, Ministry of Education, the College also distributed the teaching materials of ‘Hot Ideas of College Students Face to Face’ to all the participant teachers andorganized them to the watch the film “I Want to Be a Teacher”. All of them also visited the Nankai University Centennial History Exhibition Hall where they reviewed the profound history of Nankai University since its foundation ,appreciated the glorious deeds of Premier Zhou Enlai and other Nankai elder generations who have advanced wave upon wave for the country and for the public service and actively devoted to the cause of the Party and the country, and further deeply grasped the Nankai University's motto of ‘Dedication to Public Interests, Acquisition of All-round Capability, Aspiration for Progress with Each Passing Day’ and its mission of ‘Know China, Serve China’.
By August 23., the three-phase theme workshop was successfully concluded. The trainees expressed that they had gained a lot from the study and research whichnot only deepened their understanding of Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristic for a New Era on the level of the teaching of ideological and political co, but also enriched and expanded their experience of the case teaching for the ideological and political courses in practice. They will integrated what they have thought and learn from the seminar into their daily teaching in the future, so as to contribute to the building strong moral character for the colleges and universities as well as to the education cause of the country.
