On 6th March, in order to inherit the excellent teaching ethics of the college and comprehensively improve the teaching level of young teachers, the School of Marxism grandly held a seminar for the inheritance of teaching ethos and the appointment ceremony of teaching supervision experts. The representatives of teaching supervision experts of the college, Ding Jun and Yang Yongzhi, and the representative of honorably retired teachers, Wei Yousu, members of the leadership team of the college, representatives of all the teaching and research departments, and the representatives of young teachers attended the ceremony. The meeting was presided over by Vice Dean Sun Shoutao.
Professor Ding Jun, an expert for teaching supervision of the college, spoke first. Combining her teaching experience and work experience over the years, she focused on how to cultivate excellent teachers and strengthen the construction of disciplines. She said that as a teacher of the College of Marxism, we should always put the building strong moral in the first place, make efforts with all our heart and strength to do works, be good at accumulating and summarizing experience, and carry forward the “Spirit of Gongneng” of Nankai University. For teaching well, it is necessary to grasp the key points and find ways to let students look up and listen by means of constantly improving the quality of teaching, adjusting the teaching system and running the discipline point. For the construction of disciplines, she encouraged the young teachers to turn the pressure of teaching and scientific research into the motivation to grow up and become influential scholars, so as to promote the faster development of our college.
Professor Yang Yongzhi reviewed his own teaching experience and shared his insights on the teaching of the ideological and political courses over the years. Firstly, we should make good use of modern teaching methods to teach in a more vivid and interesting way; secondly, we should pay attention to the full interaction with students in the classroom, so that students can change from passive to active in learning; thirdly, we should be good at carrying out classroom discussion, by which to motivate students' enthusiasm through discussing and concluding together. He encouraged the young teachers to plough deep into teaching, cultivate students attentively, and give lectures with temperature.
As the representative of the retired teachers, Associate Professor Wei Yousu recalled her experience of working in the College since her graduation. She expressed her gratitude for the support and cultivation of the college and the care and help of her colleagues. She said that the college presents a very promising development prospects, with rapid progress in scientific research, numerous teaching achievements and successors in education and teaching. As a Marxism teacher, she sincerely wished that the development of the college would be steady and on a higher level.
Young teachers' representatives, such as Chang Yanhui, Lv Jiayi, Lu Yang, Liu Hao, Meng Qinglong, Wang Xinguang, Qin Zhen, Qu Jiabao, etc., spoke one after another, stating that they would inherit from their predecessors and carry forward the teaching ethos of being serious, rigorous and practical , and that they would continue to strive to show the power of the youth and move forward with vigour.
Professor Fu Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, made a concluding speech. She pointed out that on the fifth anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping's 3▪18 important speech, it is of great significance for the college to convene such a seminar on the inheritance of teaching ethos with aim to comprehensively improve teachers' ethics and competence. On behalf of the college, she expressed thanks to all the veteran teachers for their laying a good foundation for the development of the College of Marxism and making positive contributions to the construction and development of the College even till today when then have retired. Such a spirit of selfless dedication really set an example for the majority of young teachers. At the same time, she hoped that the young teachers would take the baton of the times, inherit the teaching style of seriousness, hard-working and endeavor, carry forward the fine traditions of the college of Marxism, constantly innovate the teaching mode, improve the teaching level, strive to be a good teacher qualified for Six Musts in the new era, and work together to push the development of the College of Marxism of Nankai University to a new level.
At the end of the meeting, the leaders of the college presented souvenirs to the retired teachers and awarded appointment certificates to the supervisory experts. The representatives of the young teachers presented bouquets of flowers to the veteran teachers as a token of blessing.
