On 29th March, symposium for theyear 2023 major project of the Ministry of Education of of the National Key Research Base for Textbook Construction, "Research on the Content cohesion of Unified Teaching Materials for Political Philosophy Courses between Universities and High Schools" which was headed by Professor Yu Yifan, Executive Vice Dean of the School of Marxism of Nankai, was held in Nankai University. Professor Yan Xiaofeng, member of the Advisory Committee of the Project of Studying and Advancing Marxist Theory , Vice Chairman of the General Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education for the Political Philosophy Courses in Colleges and Universities , Dean of the School of Marxism of Tianjin University, Professor Chen Dawen of the School of Marxism of Tongji University, Vice Chairman of the Sub-Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education for the “, Ethics and the Rule of Law”,Professor Feng Xiujun, member of the Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education for majors of Marxist Theory and Wu Yuzhang Chair Professor of the School of Marxism of Renmin University of China,, Professor Liu Fengyi of the School of Marxism ofNankai University,member of the Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education for the Integrated Construction of Political Philosophy Courses among Universities, Secondary and Primary Schools, Director of the Publicity Department of Party Committee of Nankai University, Professor Wu Dongsheng of the School of Marxism of Nankai University ,member of the Sub-Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education for the “Ideology, Morality and the Rule of Law”,, were invited as the review experts. Meng Delong, Deputy Director of the Department of Social Sciences of Nankai University, presided over the meeting. Wang Shengsheng, Vice Dean of the School of Marxism of Nankai University and Deputy Director of the National Key Research Base for TextbookConstruction, delivered a speech.
Yu Yifan made a detailed report on the background and significance of the project, the current status of the research, the research objectives and content of the project, etc. He pointed out that the textbooks are the basic support for teaching, and the organic connection of the teaching contents is the key point for the smooth promotion of the integrated construction of political philosophy courses among universities, secondary and primary schools. By systematically comparing the unified textbooks for political philosophy courses between universities and high schools, the research group will focus on the differences in the structure of the two types of textbooks, the duplication of key contents in the two types of textbooks, the differences in the teaching methods of the two types oftextbooks, the differences in the evaluation methods of the teachings, and the weakness on the contents complementation and cohesion between the two types oftextbooks, and will put forward the suggestions for the improvement measures.
The section of experts review was chaired by Professor Yan Xiaofeng. The expert group highly affirmed the academic values and practical significance of the project, and considered that the overall framework of the project was clearly designed and the objectives were pragmatically set. The expert group suggested to define the research focus based on the limited research objectives, track in time the latest developments in academic research and the latest status of the revision of the two types of textbooks, clarify the theoretical basis and working premise for achieving the organic cohesion between the two types of textbooks, conduct in-depth empirical research, grasp the current situation of the construction and teaching of the two types of textbooks, strengthen the analysis of the students, and take into account the differences of the political philosophy courses between the university and senior high school in terms of students' characteristics,teaching methods, teaching effects and so on, clarify the understanding along the logical lines of the standards, textbooks, and teaching, and make the research more detailed and practical so as to put forward targeted suggestions for the construction of the unified textbooks for political philosophycourses in universities and high schools as far as realizing the organic connection is concerned.
Yu Yifan responded to the expert comments. He said that he would seriously absorb the insights of the experts, further modify and improve the research contents and implementation programs according to the experts' comments and suggestions, actively push the research and complete the research task with high quality.
Members of the project team, including faculty members from China University of Political Science and Law, Tianjin No. 4 High School, and our own college, as well as some other teachers and students, attended the meeting.
