On October 22, Party and Youth League Class of 2022 Master Students Class 4 from School of Marxism of Nankai University together with the First Party Branch of 2022 Master's Student from the School of History, Group Branch of the 2021 Undergraduate Environmental Engineering from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering and the Undergraduate Party Branch from the School of Tourism and Services, launched the activity of the "Carrying Forward the Spirit of the Great Long March and Walking the Long March Road in the New Era -- Commemorating the 87th Anniversary of the Victory of the Long March". The purpose of this activity is to let more people better understand and inherit the spirit of the Long March.
Feeling the power of thought and revisiting the spirit of the Long March
In the early morning light, when the sun was rising, all members bowed in front of the statue of Premier Zhou Enlai.
At the beginning of the activity, Zhou Yan, Party Secretary of2022 Master Students Class 4 from the School of Marxism, introduced the background, process and significance of the Long March, and guided the students to relive the difficulties and obstacles facing the Red Army during the Long March.
Eighty-seven years ago, young Red Army led by young Communist Party of China completed an unrivalled expedition. The journey was arduous. Climbing snowy mountains, crossing grasslands, guns and bullets, heavy breakthroughs……Although history have buried many details, this legendary journey is still shocking us no matter how many times we look back. And this day of victory has become an indelible memory and forever engraved in the hearts of the Chinese people.
The wheel of history rolls forward and yesterday's smoke has been dispersed. But the red ribbon of 25,000 miles has travelled through eighty-seven years of time and space, pointing to a firm goal on the land of China: prosperity of the country, rejuvenation of the nation, and happiness of the people. To this end, the Chinese Communists have never stopped.
The Long March is a great expedition of ideals and beliefs, a great expedition to test the truth, a great expedition to awaken the people and a great expedition to open up new horizons. It is a magnificent epic written by the Communist Party of China and the Red Army and a towering monument in the historical process of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
In order to better understand the spirit of the Long March, students measured the land of Nankai Campus, took the Communist Manifesto as the truth call, adhered to the strategic transfer route of the main force of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. They have been divided into four groups, symbolizing the First Front Army, the Second Front Army, the Fourth Front Army and the Twenty-fifth Front Army at that time correspondently, to revisit the historical routes, carry out the relay running activities and to trace the footsteps of the martyrs with practical actions.
By means of the theme speech, story sharing and knowledge quiz at each location, students went back to the warring era, learned the historical knowledge of the Long March, realized the great feat of the Red Army in completing the Long March victory and further strengthened their patriotic passion and the ideals and beliefs of communism and Chinese socialism.
After the successful meeting in "Gansu Huining", everyone recited "Seven Rhymes - Long March" which is a hymn of lofty spirit and made us further understand the spirit of the Long March.
Cultivating the "fire" of the times and passing on the responsibility of young people
As time goes by, we have been long away from the danger of war, but on the new journey towards the goal of building a modern socialist country, there are still many snow-capped peaks to be scaled, many grasslands to be crossed, and also many Loushan Passes and Lazikou Passes to be conquered. General Secretary Xi Jinping points out that "every generation has its own long march, and every generation must see that march through.." In order to carry forwardthe spirit of the Long March, the staff distributed "seed paper" with the "Long March Spirit" printed on it to everyone after the relay run.
History only moves forward, and spirit passes on. The Red Army's Long March sows the seeds of revolution. The seeds of the "Spirit of the Long March" have been passed on from the feet of our forefathers in 1936 to the hands of our students today.
Nankai students learn, publicize and practice the spirit of the Long March by means of the quiz, story sharing and thematic preaching of the spirit of the Long March. We willkeep in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping's instructions, fulfill our youthful vows, and strive to be the new-era Nankaier with patriotic sentiments and the ability of serving the country, so as to let the seeds of the "Long March Red" blossom in the land of the "Nankai Purple"!
