On the morning of September 7, the 2023 Freshman Orientation Meeting & Welcome party of the School of Marxism was held in the first-floor lecture hall of the West Building of the Jinnan Campus of Nankai University. All members of the leadership team, including Fu Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Marxism, and Liu Fengyi, Dean of the School, as well as some teacher representatives and administrative personnel of the party and government of the School and all 2023 fresh undergraduate and postgraduate students attended the meeting which was presided over by Wang Youjiang, Deputy Secretary and Vice Dean of the School.
At the beginning of the meeting, Wang Youjiang warmly welcomed all the new students and introduced the leaders and teachers who were present at the meeting. With the solemn and resounding national anthem, the Orientation Meeting & Welcome party officially started.
Dean Liu Fengyi first expressed both warm welcome and sincere congratulations to all the new students on behalf of the College. Starting from the historic progress of School, Liu Fengyi pointed out that all freshmen, as "Marxism Students", must "take the lead", and put forward three hopes to the freshmen, namely: to "learn" with faith to "study" with pursuit and to "fight" with mission. All the new students should take the entering School of Marxism as a new starting point in life to open up a promising future.
Professor Kou Qingjie, Professor Ji Yaguang, and Professor Yu Yifan respectively introduced the basic situation of the discipline construction, faculty strength, and talent training system of the Marxist Basic Theory Research Department, the Marxist Sinicization Research Department and the Political Education Research Department.
Professor Liu Mingming, the teacher representative, asked four questions to all the freshmen: "Why do you choose Nankai Marxism College? How do you come to Nankai Marxism College? What kind of person do you want to be in Nankai Marxism College? What do you want to leave behind for Nankai Marxism College?" Based on his own experience, he encouraged all the newcomers to form a community of shared destiny with the School, starting from the golden September and setting sail again.
On behalf of the 2021 postgraduate 's students, Yao Zheng, combining with his seven years of personal growth experience at the School, encouraged all new students to live with loneliness, to improve the ideological level, to take the immediate action, to remember the "original intention" and to shoulder the "mission". He hoped that in the future all these new students will continue to shine brightly in the journey of building a strong country and national rejuvenation.
2023 undergraduate student representative Gao Jiajun, expressed the excitement of entering Nankai Marxism College. She also shared with all the students the encouragement from President Chen Yulu: "Marxist Theory is a university subject and question, we must endure loneliness, and continue to learn and investigate") and said that she aspires to become not only a towering and outstanding Marxist researcher but also a loyal believer and firm practitioner of Marxism.
After the speeches of each representative, the meeting held an appointment ceremony for 2023 undergraduate and postgraduate class supervisors. The college leaders awarded the appointment letters to the class supervisor representative and took a group photo.
2023 Freshman Orientation Meeting & Welcome party came to a successful conclusion amidst the singing of Nankai University School Song. Sincerely wish the 244 new students of the School of Marxism to take dreams as horses and live up to their youth!
