In order to promote the study of important concepts in Marxist texts, thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the guiding principles from the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, strengthen exchanges among young scholars of Marxist theoretical disciplineand to promote the growth of young talents, the Fourth China Youth Marxist Conference was held at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (Chengdu, Sichuan) from April 22nd to April 23rd. More than 30 well-known experts and more than 180 young scholars discussed the academic frontier and discipline development around the theme of “Human Civilization, Modernization and Marxism”. Deng Jinlan, Zhou Yue and Zhang Chaoyang who aredoctoral students from the School of Marxism of Nankai University were invited to attend the conference.
Former Secretary of the Party Committee of Renmin University of China Jin Nuo, Secretary of the Party Committee of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China Wang Yafei, and the inspector of the Education Office of Sichuan Province Yang Jianguo delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Wu Ruyi, the Dean of the School of Marxism, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. Wang Yafei proposed that the holding of this conference is of great significance to strengthening the theoretical armament , deepening thematic education, promoting theoretical innovation, further improving the research level of Marxist theory disciplines and cultivating young Marxists. Jin Nuo pointed out that the majority of young Marxist scholars should take the conference as an opportunity to deeply discuss important issues, promote academic innovation, display academic achievements and promote academic prosperity. Yang Jianguo proposed that the conference should focus on frontier issues, deepen theoretical research, enhance communication and promote the growth of youth. He hopes to take this conference as an opportunity to strengthen research and interpretation, promote curriculum construction and to enhance practical ability.
Participants focused on the five themes including the research of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, important concepts in Marxist classic texts,Internet ideological and political education, Digital economy and Digital capitalism critique.The conference alsoset up three special sessions for in-depth academic exchanges, namely “Contention·High-end Dialogue”, “Confrontation·young Scholars” and “Navigation·Journal Chief Editor”.
It is reported that the conference received a total of 1,157 submissions from teachers and students from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Nankai University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, Beijing Normal University, Northeastern University and other universities and research institutes. Among those submissions, 135 papers were selected by the review panel for this conference.
